Questions You May Still Have...

I want to remodel my home, where do i start?

Let's talk! We schedule a phone call to discuss your project, budget, timeline, and questions you may have.  Then we can set up a complementary in-home consultation.  Consultations range from 45 - 60 minutes and we get to know each other and review your project in more detail.  Contact me now to get started.

Do you get the permits?

Sometimes; I will draft the Architectural plans for permit submittal, and if necessary, I can refer you to a Structural Engineer for Structural Plans, and an Energy Engineer for Title 24/Green Building documents and facilitate the coordination for putting together the package to be submitted to the building departments.  This package is usually submitted by your contractor on your behalf.

What if i have questions during construction?

I'm here for you!  You and/or your contractor can call or email me and I'm available for site meetings/visits as well.

How much do your services cost?

It varies project to project, but usually design work for bathroom remodels is between $1,000 - $2,500, design work for kitchen remodels is usually between $1,500 - $3,200, design work for whole house remodels, additions and accessory structures vary depending on the complexity, space planning and furniture selection is billed at an hourly rate and I will provide you with an hourly fee estimate for your approval.

do you work with contractors?

Yes!  If you haven't hired a contractor yet, I am happy to refer you to one!  If you've already hired a contractor, I look forward to meeting them and answering any questions they have about the design.  I always recommend an on-site meeting prior to starting construction, just to make sure everyone is on the same page and there's open communication throughout your project.

Do you go shopping with me?

Yes!  We can visit tile shops, slab yards, cabinet shops, furniture stores... you name it!  I can also make recommendations so you can go shopping for materials.  If it's just furniture that you're after, check this out!

what if the design work didn't meet my expectations?

I pride myself on designing spaces in the best interest of everyone that I work with, taking into consideration their budget, timelines, priorities, and tastes.  If you're dissatisfied, please let me know right away and give me the opportunity to provide you with a revision.  If you're still not delighted, please let me know in writing and I can offer you either a discount on the purchase of products or a 50% refund of the design service that didn't excite you.  Even if we break up, I still want you to be happy.

do you work with other designers?

Yes!  I can work with anyone you've already hired or have been working with.  If there's a particular part of your project that someone is not available to help with, I am happy to discuss how I can help or what services I can provide to keep your project moving forward.

how long does design take?

This depends on the job, how often we meet, and how quickly you like to make decisions.  I turn existing and proposed plans around within 2-3 weeks from the date of the on-site measure, and any revisions we make during our design meeting or any revisions you request will be completed within 1 week.  Permit plans are usually completed within 1 week from the date they're started.

What happens if i don't end up going through with my project or i need to put my project on hold?

All you need to do is let me know you're not moving forward, and I will email you PDF copies of the plans, renderings, and project notes so you have all of the tools you need if you decide to move forward in the future.

Do i have to use all of your services?

No, I will provide you with the services I offer and you get to pick what you need for your project.

if i don't live near you, can i still work with you?

Yes!  If you're planning a kitchen or bath remodel, I can help you select finishes and you can use one of these handy Design Guides!  If plans need to be drafted, it is in your best interest to work with someone in your area.  If you need space planning and furniture selection, we can work together via E-Design (coming soon)!  Contact me to learn more.
