Refreshing Spanish Renovation

An elevated, modern Spanish style whole home remodel in Aptos, California.

This house already had great bones and a great layout, which let these homeowners maximize their budget! They wanted to bring in some rich tones, textures and patterns to the interior and exterior to emphasize the Spanish style architecture. The design includes dark stained semi-custom cabinetry, a mixture of different sintered stone and quartz countertops, and a beautiful variety of decorative painted tiles for the kitchen backsplash and shower walls!

Behind-the-design details from Erin for this remodel project in Aptos, California 95003:

I love when the interiors complement the architecture of a home - and even more so when we get to refresh the exterior as well!

This home renovation features an array of tile selections that are unique, yet feel like they belong in the same space. To complement the existing original Saltillo tile (that couldn’t be matched!), we used a wood-look tile flooring in a dark wood tone, used dark stained wood cabinets, Dekton and Silestone countertops, and painted patterned tiles for the kitchen backsplash and all of the showers.  We took the exterior from a Tuscan yellow color to a bright white to contrast with the existing red clay tile roof, the primary bedroom balcony was refreshed with a new wrought iron railing, the back deck doubled in size, and the property received updated landscaping.
