Behind-the-design details for this kitchen remodel project in La Selva Beach, California 95076:

The homeowners saw the potential in this home when they purchased it and when windows leaked shortly after they closed escrow, they had to plan for a renovation sooner than they’d imagined! The entire home was remodeled from top to bottom, leaving the interior walls and structural posts completely intact. The homeowners loved the natural wood and wanted to keep the texture of it, but create a space that felt lighter and fresher - and of course they wanted to maximize the ocean view!

We reconfigured the kitchen which now includes custom painted and white oak cabinets by Lint Cabinetry, emerald quartzite countertops, an overgrouted natural stone veneer backsplash, a large Galley workstation sink with two faucets, and a walk in pantry with a custom carved wood barn door. We kept all of the existing wood (beams, posts and T&G ceilings), but to lighten the space, we white washed the T&G ceilings and wood wall paneling - which kept the texture, but brightened the entire home!

The bathrooms feature white oak and painted cabinetry from Dura Supreme, porcelain tile floors, glass tile and glass mosaic tile in the showers, new California Faucets plumbing fixtures supplied by Plumbed Elegance and the entire house has new engineered French Oak flooring from Interior Vision. We designed a new gas fireplace with the same overgrouted natural stone veneer as the kitchen, centered on the exterior wall which allows one to enjoy both the ambiance of the fireplace and the fantastic ocean view! The primary bedroom has a stacked stone feature wall and a cozy bed nook that we painted a dark blue to echo the ocean view. We turned a dark basement living room into a bunk room with large windows of the ocean and added a ½ bath to the space so the homeowners could have plenty of space for their kids and grandkids to stay comfortably!
