Country Character: A Whole House Remodel

Texture, warmth, and character were the aesthetic priorities throughout the house for these homeowners! The stained knotty alder cabinetry in the kitchen is balanced with the richness of black cabinetry with a rub-through finish and a porcelain ‘brick-like’ backsplash tile. Black cabinetry was carried into the hall bath with a concrete-looking porcelain tile, and the primary bath is finished with stained walnut cabinetry, stone-inspired porcelain floor tile, and accented with natural pebble tile in the shower.

Project Details: This was a whole house remodel, but we completely reconfigured the kitchen and primary bath.  The kitchen was an outdated galley kitchen, and we moved the interior walls to make it twice the size!  We created an open family kitchen with a center island with seating, large pantry cabinets, and a built-in window seat for a breakfast nook.  The cabinets in the kitchen are stained knotty alder, and the island and pantry cabinets are painted black with a rub-through accent and light distressing.  The countertops are quartz, and the backsplash is a porcelain brick paver.  The floors throughout the house are hand-scraped engineered hardwood.  The master bath tile is a porcelain stone look with a gentle texture, the shower pan is a pebble mosaic, and the shower accent tile is a stone mosaic.  The shower enclosure in the master bath is frameless, and the shower has a low curb.  The tub/shower combination in the guest/hall bath has a barn door enclosure.
