Cabinetry Inspo: The Best Way to Hide Your TV

A complete look at this homeowners space from inside the kitchen looking into the living room. On the right is the custom cabinetry that hides a big TV entertainment system.

Have a big TV you wish you could blend into your space? Get inspired with this gorgeous cabinetry made to hide a TV entertainment system!

With our ‘on-demand’ world, it’s nice to have your favorite shows queued up whenever you want, but that doesn’t mean you want the TV to be the focal point of your gathering space! So what do you do if you want to watch your favorite shows while you’re cooking in the kitchen, but you don’t want to look at a big black screen when it’s off? You get cabinetry built to hide it, naturally!

This open-concept kitchen had views into a lounge area that the family loved to be in, and since they spend most of their time in this communal area just off the kitchen, they wanted to have a TV, but they didn’t want it to be the focal point.

So we designed custom built-in cabinetry to match the kitchen, provide storage, and hide the TV! The fireplace is trimmed with the same stained walnut as the lower kitchen cabinets, and the cabinet box above it was built with the depth needed to hide the TV and look like the cabinetry on either side of the fireplace. We used touch-latch hardware on the accordion-style TV cabinet doors, so you don’t need any exterior knobs or pulls - you apply light pressure with your finger, and the magnetic catch will release the doors that you fold back when you want to enjoy a movie or show!
